The water/fighting angry frog from generation one tcg base set has always been one of my favorite cards. The Ken Sugomori water color art depicting Poliwrath bulked up in the swirling dark blue whirlpool in the background was really striking. Poliwrath's main attack Whirlpool cost 3 water energy for 80 damage, thats not great at all for a stage 2 Pokemon with 140HP, in today's format thats horrible actually. The bright side of the Whirlpool attack is its effect to force your opponent to discard any type of energy card! That includes special energy such as Double Colorless and Double Dragon which is featured in a lot of decks, this could potentially keep your opponent energy starved when you throw in item cards such as Crushing Hammer and Enhanced Hammer, throw in a Team Flare Grunt or two for good measure and I feel as long as you can get Poliwrath within the first 3 turns you can keep them starved for energy and they wont be able to hityou. This definitley wont beat a speedy top tier deck but this will for sure be a fun one!
